Holy Shit: Caminho Das Indias

Because I needed one more reason to learn Portuguese, this week in Holy Shit! is Caminho Das Indias (Path to India), a Brazilian novela about a Brazilian dood who falls in love with an Indian girl from a conservative family. Holy Shit! According to Wiki, it is "one of Brazil's highest-rated programmes, often appearing at the top of the daily's ratings" and "the art director built 42 shops and a complete temple [in Rio] in honor of the Hindu God Shiva... One of the [banks] of the Ganges was also reproduced..." The crew has filmed in Jaipur, Agra, Dubai, and Rio. Also, Juliana Paes, who plays Maya, is fly as hell and looks a lot like Aishwarya Rai.

More clips. How fucking beautiful is this shit, eh?

I want to write something about how Brazil and India should be friends. About how novelas in India and novelas in Latin America are the same exact thing. About synergy. About how Brazil is probably a lot like India without being Indian at all or having a significant population there. About how Slumdog is really awesome in the parts where it blatantly seems to rip off of City of God. About dancing. About love. But I won't.
