I realize I've been slacking on the Indian Art posting these days so I wanted to get back to that. S.H. Raza (1922-Present) is an Indian artist akin to leaders of the movement like MF Husain and FN Souza. He's even got the two initials + last name thing going on. Like the others, he is also a graduate of the Sir J.J. School of Art. (Of course Souza never graduated as he was kicked out for joining the anti-British movement). Raza also spent time at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts which had a significant impact on his work. It was in France he came across the Abstract Expressionism movement that influenced him in the 50s and 60s before his return to core Indian aesthetics in the 70s.
