Yeah.
I've talked about this for some time now and have decided to go ahead and do it. This blog will be a place to find out about music I appreciate, art I've become fond of, writing I feel like sharing, events I feel are worth attending, literature I attempt to read through, news articles that matter, and youtube videos of people getting hit in the balls. Several of these may involve India.
Gordon Gartrelle
Anyone that knows me knows that I'm quite a fan of 90's African-American sitcoms. Sitcoms in general, really. In this episode of The Cosby Show, Cliff convinces Theo to let Denise make him a bootleg Gordon Gartrelle shirt. He can't go out on his date with some fly beezy unless he's rocking that Gordon Gartrelle fire. Comedy ensues. (Gordon Gartrelle was a producer on the show who's name they used).
Pyaasa may be my favorite movie of all time.
"Pyaasa is a 1957 Hindi film directed by Guru Dutt. The film tells the story of struggling poet, Vijay (Guru Dutt), trying to make his works known in post-independence India."
"On October 10, 1964, Guru Dutt was found dead in his bed in his rented apartment at Pedder Road in Mumbai. He is said to have been mixing alcohol and sleeping pills. His death may have been suicide, or just an accidental overdose. It would have been his third suicide attempt."

Koushik - Lying in the Sun
http://stonesthrow.com/podcast/stonesthrow_koushik_sun.mp3Koushik Ghosh's music sounds like his labelmates Dilla and Madlib fucking My Bloody Valentine while Phil Spector watches with a music gadget or something. Hip-hop drums. Shoegaze vocals. 60's-pop inspired music. He released a record that blew my mind a few years back and has remained pretty recluse since. Songs on that record felt like flying out of your window on a warm summer day. This song does also. I'm real excited about this album. Also, yes, he's Indo-Canadian.
